How to upload and scale a basic design

This article will cover how to upload and scale a basic pool, house, shed, or granny flat/ADU design.

How to upload and scale a basic design

  • To access the Admin section Click on your name on the top right of the screen.
  • Select Admin from the options. 
  • Click on Design Catalogue.

Please see "How to create and manage Design Sets" and "How to create and manage Sub Categories" if you are uploading your account's first design. You'll need to set up folders in which to load your design. 

  • Click on the grey Stacked Dots icon at the top right of the screen.
  • Click on +Add Item.

  • Select the floor plan or design to upload from your computer files. 

The system will automatically load your file into the editing tool. 

Any file is acceptable - DWG, PDF, JPEG, PNG, etc. Simply ensure the quality of the design is up to your standard. 

  • Click on the Magnet icon in the green toolbar on the right side of the design.

An activated Magnet icon shows lightning bolts coming from each tip. 

An activated Magnet tool keeps your lines at 90-degree angles to facilitate more accurate outlines of the design. 

If you uploaded the wrong file, click on the Upload icon in the green toolbar to the right of the floor plan to reselect a file. Screenshot 2023-09-26 at 4.09.45 PM

  • Zoom in to the design if necessary, and click as close as possible to the very point of one corner of the design.

Use the magnifier near the bottom left corner of the screen as a guide for higher accuracy of cropping and scaling. In the center of the magnifier is a small grey dot, which stays stationary as you move your mouse. Position your mouse so that the grey dot  in the middle of the magnifier is as close to the point of the corner as possible.

  • Follow the outline of the design, being sure to click on all corners of the design.

  • End the outline by clicking on the first bubble you created (with your click in the first corner. 
  • Make any final edits to the outline by clicking and dragging any of the bubbles so that they sit as close as possible on the point of each corner.

  • Click on the Scissors icon in the green panel to the right of the design to crop the design. 
  • If applicable and desired, click on the black oblong shape associated with the front of the design to indicate which side is the front.

  • Scale the design next by clicking as close as possible to one end of the design length-wise. 
  • Bring your mouse over to the other end, and click ensuring that your mouse is as close to the edge as possible. 
  • Type the length in the length bubble that sits in the middle of the line just created.

As in the case of outlining and cropping the design, using the magnifier in the bottom left corner ensures higher accuracy. 

  • Click on the Vital Info tab. 
  • Fill in all required information (highlighted in red below) and select appropriate drop-down options.

  • Click the green Checkmark near the top right of the screen to save and return to the Design Catalogue.

Feel free to add in details about the design now, but do note that they can always be edited later. Please see "How to edit design details" for more information.
