This article will cover how to use each of the 9 tools in the drawing toolbar, including the Polygon, Line, Circle, Free Polygon, Group Polygon, Ruler, Label, Ground Coverage & Annotation.

Polygon – Allows the drawing of any closed-in shapes from 3 sides to infinity. This can be used to draw custom builds, additional features, or calculate material areas. |

Line – Allows the drawing of any continuous line on the site. This can be used to mark in utility lines, fences, or retaining walls across the site. |

Circle – Create perfect circles to any desired radius. This can be used for outlining cylindrical structures onsite, marking in tree coverage, or outlining trees to be removed. |

Free Polygon – Freehand drawing tool to create custom freeform shapes or areas. |

Group Polygon – Outline any Polygon, Line or Circle on the site to group shapes or bulk delete. |

Ruler – Allows you to mark in additional dimension lines onto the site. Can also be used to reduce the number of lines from structure setback |

The Action Box is a simple way to draw to exact bearings & dimensions as well as seamlessly swap between straight & curved lines.
- Left click on the Polygon to access the Shape Menu.

Delete Structure - Removes the design from the property. |

Delete Structure
Polygon
A polygon is defined as a shape with three or more sides, extending to an infinite number of sides. This versatile tool enables you to create a wide variety of shapes, ranging from standard geometric forms like squares & rectangles, which feature perfect 90° angles, to more complex & irregular designs of any size.

Select the Polygon tool.

Select the Snap feature.

Click anywhere on the screen to start.
-
Drag the line vertically down & let go of the mouse.
-
Press Enter / Return on the keyboard & type the dimension of the line.
-
Press Enter / Return to lock in the dimension.
-
Press Esc to remove the previous point.
-
Repeat on each line as necessary to complete 4 sides of the square or rectangle.

To terminate, click on the starting point.

Select the Polygon tool.
-
Click anywhere on the screen to start.
-
Drag the mouse & continue to click various points to complete the polygon.

Press Esc to remove the previous point.

Use the Action Box to alternate between straight / curve lines.

Toggle to activate the Snap feature.

To terminate the polygon, click on the starting point.

Left-click on the polygon to edit.
-
Left-click a small dot to add a point.
-
Left-click on a large dot to alternate between straight & curved.

Left-click & hold on a large dot & drag the mouse to reshape the polygon.

Select the Polygon tool.

Click anywhere on the screen to start.

Use the Action Box to alternate between straight / curve lines.

Toggle to activate the Snap feature.

Enter a dimension & angle into the Action Box.
-
Repeat on each line as necessary.

Press Esc to remove the previous point.

To terminate a line with the starting point by entering the exact length & angle OR clear all values from the Action Box & click on the starting point.

Left-click on the polygon to edit.

Left-click a small dot to add a point.
-
Left-click on a large dot to alternate between straight & curved.

Left-click & hold on a large dot & drag the mouse to reshape the polygon.

Select the Polygon tool.

Click anywhere on the screen to start.

Use the Action Box to alternate between straight / curve lines.

Toggle to activate the Snap feature.

Press Enter / Return on the keyboard & type the dimension of the line.

Press Enter / Return to lock in the dimension.

Press Esc to remove the previous point.

Repeat on each line as necessary.

To terminate, click on the starting point.

Left-click on the polygon to edit.

Left-click a small dot to add a point.

Left-click on a large dot to alternate between straight & curved.

Left-click & hold on a large dot & drag the mouse to reshape the polygon.
Use Takeoff to edit the display of a polygon by adjusting the setting after drawing or selecting it. This is useful to declutter the screen, to define or clearly identify the shape visually or achieve a desired outcome for the site plan.
Line

Select the Line tool.

Click anywhere on the screen to start.

Drag the mouse & continue to click various points to complete the line.

Press Esc to remove the previous point.
-
Use the Action Box to alternate between straight / curve lines.

Toggle to activate the Snap feature.

To terminate the line, click on the last point created.
To terminate the line, the dimension box should be below 0.1. Use Esc on the keyboard to remove a point.

Select the Line tool.

Click anywhere on the screen to start.

Use the Action Box to alternate between straight / curve lines.

Toggle to activate the Snap feature.

Enter a dimension & angle into the Action Box.
-
Repeat on each line as necessary.

Press Esc to remove the previous point.

To terminate, set the length to '0' & click on the last point created.

Select the Line tool.
-
Click anywhere on the screen to start.

Use the Action Box to alternate between straight / curve lines.

Toggle to activate the Snap feature.

Press Enter / Return on the keyboard & type the dimension of the line.
-
Press Enter / Return to lock in the dimension.

Press Esc to remove the previous point.

Repeat on each line as necessary.

To terminate, click on the last point created.
Use Takeoff to edit the display of a line by adjusting the setting after drawing or selecting it. This is useful to declutter the screen, to visually define it or achieve a desired outcome for the site plan.
Draw Circle

Select the Circle tool.

Click anywhere on the screen to start the circle.

Drag your mouse to increase or decrease the radius to adjust the size of the circle.

Click to set the circle.
-
Select the Circle tool.
-
Click anywhere on the screen to start the circle.
-
Type a radius into the dimension section of the Action Box.

Click to set the circle.
-
Select the Circle tool.
-
Click anywhere on the screen to start the circle.
-
Press Enter / Return on the keyboard & type the dimension of the radius.
-
Press Enter / Return to lock in the dimension & create the circle.
Free Polygon & Group Polygon
The Free Polygon is a quick way to draw a freeform shape on the site. Once drawn, you can edit the points as necessary to adjust the design.

Select the Free Polygon tool.
-
Click & hold anywhere on the screen & move the mouse to create the desired shape.

The shape will close when the button is released.
The Group Polygon tool can be used to merge multiple Lines, Polygons or Circles. It is also a quick way to bulk delete any of these shapes.

Select the Group Polygon tool.
-
Draw around all of the shapes that need to be merged or deleted.
-
Select either the Merge or Delete option.
Ruler
The Ruler tool is designed to add precise dimensions to your design. These measurements are fixed and can only be deleted, not edited. By utilising the Snap feature, you can ensure that the measurement aligns perfectly with the edges of your Design, Boundaries, or any Lines & Polygons present on the site.
- Select the Ruler tool.

Toggle to activate the Snap feature.

Click the edge of a Structure or Boundary.
-
Press Enter / Return on the keyboard & type the dimension of the line.
-
Press Enter / Return to lock in the dimension.
-
To terminate, click on the last point created.
Label & Ground Coverage
The Label can be placed anywhere on the site. These can be moved, rotated & positioned as necessary.
- Select the Label tool.
- Click anywhere on the screen to create a text box.
- Type the text for the label.
- Click & hold the label to drag & move it around the site.
- Click the various Font Style & Size to edit the label. See the below guide for more information.
The Ground Coverage tool calculates the remaining area of the property, minus the proposed build, existing structures & any extras marked in with the Polygon drawing tool.

Click Ground Coverage to capture the remaining site area.

Right-click on the green area.
-
Select the Trash Can icon to remove the ground coverage.
Annotations
Annotations help communicate essential site details clearly and professionally.

Select the Annotation icon.
-
Drag your mouse to the desired location.
-
Left-click to place the annotation.
-
Add text and images as needed.
-
Left-click on the map to minimise the annotation.
-
Left-click and hold to move the annotation.
-
Left-click on the annotation to open the edit window.
-
Enter or update any text in the text box.
-
Click the Copy icon to copy the coordinates.
-
Click the Picture icon to upload an image from your device.
-
Click the Trash Can icon to delete the annotation.
